Infertility

What is it?

Infertility is couple’s failure to conceive a child after one year of regular unprotected sexual intercourse. It can happen both in women and in men and may be caused by hormonal, anatomical, or lifestyle factors.

Main causes include:

  • Ovulation disorders in women
  • Tubal factors or endometriosis
  • Reduced sperm quality or amount in men
  • Genetic factors
  • Chronic infections, stress, unhealthy habits

Symptoms:

Infertility itself rarely has obvious symptoms. The main sign is failure to get pregnant despite regular sexual intercourse. Sometimes it is accompanied by irregular menstrual cycles, pelvic pain, or hormonal imbalances.

Evaluation and treatment:

  • Hormonal testing
  • Pelvic ultrasound and semen analysis
  • Medication treatment to restore ovulation
  • Surgical treatment of adhesions or endometriosis
  • Assisted reproductive technologies (IVF, ICSI)

Why see a doctor?

The sooner a couple begins evaluation, the higher the chance of identifying and treating the underlying cause. Modern diagnostics and therapies make parenthood possible even in complex cases.
